“Many a trip continues,
Long after movement
In time and space ceases.”
John Steinbeck
I am often out in inclement weather
Pursuing abandoned and abused dogs
One night, down by an old train station
I saw them sitting there in the rain and fog
As I drew closer, I thought it was rather odd
That they both seemed to be staring into space
I wondered why a boy and his dog were out there
On such a cold dreary night, in such a strange place
Since then, I’ve seen this boy and this dog several times
Always in the vicinity of this old abandoned train station
But whenever I attempt to find out why they are out there
They soon vanish, I never get to engage them in conversation
The young boy’s apparel appears to belong to a much earlier time
And he always has his arm extended around his loyal canine friend
It’s as if they are now both suspended in place, waiting for the train
And now I often wonder, if their waiting there together, will ever end
I have been researching the history of this old station, on the edge of town
But I haven’t found any information concerning a run-a-way boy and his dog
If they are spirits, trapped in time and space, I’m at least glad they are together
And as I head out once again tonight, I’ll be wondering if I’ll see them in the fog
Like My Late Night Encounter With Ragtail,
For These Apparitions, I Have No Explanation;
I Have Taken My Spouse Out There To See Them,
But She Hasn’t, Believing They Are My Imagination.
But I Happen To Agree With Steinbeck:
“Many a trip continues,
Long after movement
In time and space ceases.”

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :D
you're seeing as much with your heart as your eyes,
perhaps moreso, and that's why you see when others don't.
John
It is deep food for the mind, and a wee bit spookie too.
Reminds me of a chapter in one of your books, once I get home I'll take a look.
it would appear that You are
the chosen One to someday
speak for them ~Mr. Ed~
