Spooky
Something seems to come over her
On each and every Halloween night
It has always been her favorite holiday
She insists we stand out in the moonlight
She makes me give all our dogs and cats a bath
She pesters me until I dress in an old suit and tie
She purchases tons and tons of Halloween candy
After all these years, I still don’t really know why
Our humble abode, good old Thornwood Manor
Is off the beaten path, on the edge of a dark forest
But she's not satisfied, until we get the old place ready
“Pee Wee, this Halloween is going to be the very best!”
And these days, realizing how joyous she is every Halloween
Our numerous dogs, and cats, and I, all go along with her plans
“Sweetie, I bet there’s gonna be a Trick or Treater any minute,
And by the way in the moonlight tonight, you really look grand!”
“Thank you Pee Wee, you look pretty darn good yourself tonight,
And, thanks for putting on your suit, and giving the critters baths;
While we’re waiting for the Trick or Treaters, tell us a spooky story,
One of those really horrifying old northwood legends from the past!”
So I assemble her and our many pets out on old Thornwood Manor’s porch
And while she and they nibble on Halloween candy, milkbones, and cat treats
I relay the old legends about Wendigos, Pine Needle Ned, and old Nasty Jack
As chocolate morsels dribble down her chin she sighs and says “This is So Neat!”
Halloween Candy and Spooky Stories,
Really Make Her and Our Pets Purr;
Love Truly is Grand and Tons of Fun,
With a Spooky Little Spouse Like Her.

Great poem for the season. And I'm sure all your 'critters' will love it too. I have two black cats I can put in the window, it's an oldie but goodie, Four yellow eyes, a poem I wrote a few years go. Love the music.
