It’s bad enough we dump them on streets
People like me, round them up, all the time
But it is atrocious, that we also lock them up
Inside foreclosed homes – a truly hideous crime
Far too many real estate agents and contractors
Are still finding starving and dead, dogs and cats
Many of them, locked in and left behind, for months
In dire times, we lose our compassion – a cold hard fact
And far too many of these once cherished pets, are old
They gave all their love and loyalty to us, for many years
Now, we don’t even bother attempting to find them homes
And far too many of us doing animal rescue, shed many tears
A real estate agent I know, just found two dogs inside a house
One had already perished, the other was now a walking skeleton
A contractor I know, found an emaciated mother cat with kittens
Five of her six starving offspring, dead before their lives had begun
And the animal shelters all across America, are now all overflowing
With sick, elderly, starving, locked in and left behind, once loved pets
Most experts are predicting our economy won’t rebound for a long time
And people like me in animal rescue know we haven’t seen the worst yet
The month of November has been designated ‘Adopt a Senior Pet’ Month
There are so many pets today that are in dire need of a compassionate friend
Please consider making a donation to your local shelter, or adopting an animal
Please help those of us who still care about them, bring their suffering to an end
If you suspect there are locked in pets,
In any foreclosed property near you,
Please assist us, in getting them out;
We believe it’s the right thing to do.
And please consider helping out a Milwaukee Shelter,
Which has rescued over 5,000 left behind dogs and cats;

My hat is off to all the marvellous people out there who take the time to help these poor animals. Of course there are not enough of us to go around. The problem is worldwide but every little helps and if we can save just some of these loyal, loving creatures it is worth the effort.
The human race needs educating. Some people think that animals have no feeling of pain or misery. Some just think it doesn't matter how we treat them. All of these people are incredibly ignorant, cruel and completely selfish. They can't even look after each other!
I'd like to see them treated the same way. Punish them like for like. I bet people would be much more careful with the other species of this planet if that were the case.
I have to say that when things like this happen, it makes me ashamed of our race.

my friend recently adopted a dog ... so far so good ... unfortunately, i can't have a dog ... dogs not allowed in my coop ...
