Happy Christmas
I seem to spend a lot of my time these days
Attempting to help abused and abandoned pets
And, I’ve become increasingly ashamed of our race
Our cruelty is increasing, we haven’t seen the worst yet
The sweet dog in the picture was thrown out by her owner
After she had so faithfully been by her side, for ten years
“I had to move to an apartment that didn’t allow any pets.”
So she just left her; feeling no remorse, shedding no tears
This loyal dog diligently followed her human being, all the way across town
She was just found battered and near death outside the woman’s apartment
Several animal-hating teenagers, had decided to beat her, with baseball bats
In addition to her severe wounds, she was starving, from lack of nourishment
This innocent, extremely loyal old canine, is now at an animal shelter
Filled with sadness and hurt, and wondering what she has done wrong
And I now very sadly wonder, what is wrong with the human race today
Compassion and empathy gone, cruelty and callousness now so strong
And so this is Christmas,
For weak and for strong;
For so many innocent ones,
The world is now so very wrong.

I can only pray for more Mr. Ed's to come forward and take a stand. The cowards are the kids and others who have no heart for mans BEST friend! As I said before if all folks in the town could take in only one pet then this problem would be over and a new day will begin!
