“Most glorious night!

Thou wert not sent for slumber!”

Lord Byron

The moon was out

The snow was falling

I was just now dozing off

When I heard him calling

“Who, Who, Who, Are You?”

He seemed to want to know

So, I very quickly got dressed

And went to meet him in the snow

“What, What, What, Is This?”

Now, he was inquiring of me

I felt compelled to answer him

“It’s our backyard Christmas Tree.”

“Why, Why, Why, Do You Do This?”

This late night visitor now asked

“To celebrate the birth of a child,

Born on earth, in the very distant past.”

“I know, I know, I know” he soon cooed

He was testing me, to see if I knew, too

“Merry Christmas, Visitor From The North!”

“You, Too! You, Too!” and now, off he flew

It seems that I had been blessed by a visit

From a wise old Snowy Owl, from the Arctic

As I watched him, flying off into the snowy night

I thanked God for Nature, my heart filled with bliss

The moon was out,

The snow was falling;

I was just now dozing off,

When I heard him calling.

Many Wondrous Snowy Owls from The Arctic,

Have Very Recently Arrived Here In The Midwest;

I Feel Extremely Honored, That One Has Visited Me,

Christmases With Snow and Snowy Visitors, Are The Best.

Who are you? Who who who who
I really wanna know.

Cuz! That's the Who! Now I know that you've been into the wild turkey again. Your vinyl's spinning backwards and you're hallucinating. Patrick

The white, snowy owl, a most magnificent visitor to grace your backyard Christmas tree. What a wonderous sight that must have been!

Very enjoyable seasonal write, Ed. I always enjoy the "symmetrical shape" of your poems, but it seems especially appropriate this time of the year. Thanks Dick.

I hope you went back to bed, my friend, as such dozing time calls inspire the soul and put the mind a new gear of inspiration. Beautiful poem

At least you got one visitor as Santa won't be coming this year, he is doing some downsizing and cut backs make him stop going to adult homes, just for the kids now even though most are more naughty than nice...(did you get a layer of snow already? we had our first flurry activity last night, but it didn't last too long...)Jurseeeeeey
