"It came to me that every time I lose a dog,

They take a piece of my heart with them.

And every new dog who comes into my life,

Gifts me, with a piece of their heart.

If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog,

And I will become as generous and as loving as they are.”

 Author Unknown

I had found her in a frigid park

Frightened, starving, and all alone

After recovering at an animal hospital

My spouse and I brought her to our home

Our other former street orphans greeted her

And very readily accepted her, in their midst

All any dog wants is to feel loved and needed

It doesn’t take very much at all, for a dog’s bliss

Soon after we brought her home we received a phone call

From friends of a friend who had heard about this rescue

“Our beloved old poodle recently died, after sixteen years;

Do you think we could come over, and meet Little Pooh?”

And very soon, my spouse and I watched yet another miracle occur

Between a man, a woman, and a tiny canine, in need of new friends

“I believe this was meant to be” my wife soon declared to this couple

As they took turns holding Little Pooh, her nightmare came to an end

It always saddens us a bit, when we give up a street orphan we take in

But we knew that deserving Little Pooh, would now get a loving new start

My spouse and I both hugged her, and grateful Little Pooh kissed our cheeks

Yet one more generous canine, who had now gifted us, with a piece of her heart

If you’d like to learn more about rescue efforts on behalf of these homeless waifs,

I've also posted a recent newspaper article about our little Muttley Crew, today.

You didn't lose this dog my friend. You not only saved Pooh but another broken hearted couple. Big time Karma here. Your problem will be if you ever need a heart transplant. How will they match the kennel that lurks within your ribcage? cuz p

This is a heartwarming story of a single dog's rescue. It is too bad that so many, worldwide, are not. I believe that city dwellers are fooling themselves when they think they can have pets like dogs. In order not to be abused, the dog must be able to run free and not be confined to a small apartment or chain. Feeding dogs from the table and giving them “treats” is a form of abuse as well. It saddens me to think that people think that they can find love in a pet to replace the love they do not have for themselves.

Heartwarming without the heartbreak when you have to give Pooh up. It is with love that you live your life for humanity...You are a very good person, Ed. Love you so much.

Much peace, love and light,
Amber
