Our nation’s enormous animal abuse keeps growing
And it fills an American citizen like me, with shame
It is horrendous enough, that we now abandon them
But that’s not enough; today, we inflict horrendous pain
The innocent pup in the picture above has been named Andre
He was found tied up in a plastic bag, in a dumpster in Phoenix
Before he was thrown in the trash, he was used for target practice
Blinded, his eyes shot out with a BB gun, emaciated, and so very sick
He was rushed to an animal hospital, where he was given a blood transfusion
His medical bills are enormous, and some are trying to raise funds for his care
I wish I didn’t have to read such horror stories, occurring in my own country
But as one who tries to help these innocents, I know there are many out there
