We seldom learn a lesson, or heed history
When gobs and gobs of cash can be made
We’re spraying Agent Orange on our crops
Both our food and our water are toxic today
In a profit-driven match conceived in hell
Agroscience genetically modifies our crops
In partnership with the Agrochemical industry
Which sells Agent Orange herbicides, non-stop
Old fashioned god-given crops and natural weed remedies
Do not produce enough profits, for greedy companies today
So, they genetically alter our food, and create more toxic sprays
Which they convince farmers to use, to keep ‘Super Weeds’ away
And today, a never ending, toxic bombardment of air, land, and water
With toxic sprays, poisoning just about everything, we now drink and eat
Farmers who have ‘opted in’ to the profit-driven motives of the agro industry
Face higher and higher costs, if in this modern day hell, they hope to compete
What we are spraying on our food crops and into our water are known carcinogens
Far too many of our Vietnam Veterans learned this all too well, some forty years ago
These toxins are also killing honeybees, birds, and fish, and entering our water systems
But yet once again, our ‘leaders’ take no action to stop this, and on and on and on, it goes
Agent Orange, or 2, 4-D (2, 4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid), used as a defoliant during the Vietnam War, is extremely nasty stuff. It’s been linked to cancer, cell damage, hormonal disruption, reproductive problems, and birth defects. Unfortunately, more than 46 million pounds of it are still being used each and every year in the U.S., and its usage is still growing. It is now in most weed-and-feed products, used heavily for agricultural purposes, and very routinely sprayed on our lawns to kill dandelions. It’s already prevalent in our drinking water, and in far too much of our surface and ground water.
And modern day farming is now completely dependent on the ever-increasing application of toxic agrochemicals. Some have even compared this practice to a drug addict who requires larger and larger fixes to stay high. Toxic herbicide use has increased steadily over the last twenty years as weeds develop resistance to them, and soon need to be doused with more and more, and even deadlier chemicals to kill them. This, in turn. requires more and more aggressive genetic engineering of crops that can somehow withstand this ever escalating toxic chemical assault.
Many agricultural experts and scientists are also now warning that our ever growing addiction to agrochemicals and genetically altered crops is unsustainable in the long run. The fertility of our planting soil is steadily declining as earthworms and other vital microorganisms are being killed off by these toxic pesticides and herbicides, which also pollute our groundwater supplies and compromise the health of farm animals that are now being fed with chemical-infused grain. And it’s recently been estimated that over 65 million birds now die each and every year, from eating toxic grain.
Today, we now horridly taint with deadly toxins just about everything that we consume from breakfast cereals and bread, to fruits and vegetables, to fish and meat.

Both our food and our water, are toxic today.
