Music: All Is Gone
In North America, back in the early 1800s
Over 65 million Bison, roamed our vast plains
Soon, we began slaughtering them, by the millions
They were now near extinction, never to be seen again
Because of public pressure, the surviving few, got refuge
In one of our national parks, the magnificent Yellowstone
Here, they were to be protected, and allowed, to roam free
Over the years, I have often traveled to see them, in their home
But today, our national parks and public lands have been taken over
By special interest groups, like cattle ranchers and mining companies
Who our ‘leaders’ allow to dictate, how ‘our public lands’ will be used
Today, America’s wolves, wild horses, and these bison, are no longer free
In the last twenty years, we as a nation, have lost all respect for our treasures
Our own government, now helps special interest groups annihilate our wildlife
Today, we shoot them down from helicopters, and round them up for slaughter
Even though by our own laws, they are supposed to live free, devoid of all strife
Over five years ago, sixty-five of these once free roaming wild bison, were confined to a pen
But thankfully today, some Native Americans have agreed to give them a refuge and a home
This surviving group of wild bison that have now been relocated to the Fort Peck Reservation
Will hopefully get the freedom we promised them - a place of sanctuary, where they can roam
No Longer Welcome or Protected in Our National Parks, As They Are Supposed To Be,
Because Our Politicians and Special Interest Groups Object To Their Right To Live Free
And Now, Lawsuits Are Already Being Filed Against Their Presence On This Reservation,
Many Are Going To Great Lengths To Kill Off Everything ‘Wild’ Still Left In Our Nation
And One Sad Day Very Soon,
Everything Wild Will Be Gone
