I was out on yet another rescue mission
In search of yet another abandoned canine
When I perched in the brush peering skyward
And soon observed a heavenly sight quite divine
There above me was the bright crescent moon
With the planet Venus, illuminated in the sky
And a flurry of white meteors darting all about
A sight truly worth seeing with my own two eyes
They say these meteors have been dancing about
Since the time of Christ, some 2,000 years past
They are named after Perseus, the son of Zeus
Who chopped off the evil Medusa’s head at last
What a marvelous sight to behold on this summer’s night
What magical images were now being displayed up above
And what a stark contrast to the reason I was now out here
In search of another outcast, devoid of a home, and of love
I finally stopped gazing skyward, and I began looking all around
Praying to the heavens that this night, this outcast could be found

It was their comfort sign to you
I have been trying to capture a fawn
it is without a mother and seen
along Memorial Drive for nearly
3 weeks now. If I had not had
my grandson in the car with me
Monday (he is only 9 months old)
I would have stopped and brought
it in the car!
