It has been six long weeks now
Since I found him on that highway
And he has been an excellent teacher
He never ever complains, in any way
His leg still has a splint and is bandaged
And, he must still wear his confining collar
But he's a much better patient than I ever was
After my leg surgery, I’d often curse and holler
He instead gratefully hobbles up and down stairs
And rejoices, in every moment spent in our yard
For him, simple pleasures, like inhaling fresh air
Are more than enough, in his recovery quite hard
He realizes he now has a comfortable bed and food
And both humans and other animals, who care for him
I often envy the animals, for being satisfied with so little
How many of us can say: “I really enjoy the gift of wind.”
How many of us are truly satisfied with our destiny in life
How many of us still truly rejoice, in life’s simplest pleasures
How many of us are content to very patiently wait for better days
How many of us can say: “I enjoyed the day, no matter the weather.”
In the picture above, he so patiently waits for me to sit
So he can give me his wet kisses of love and gratitude
I now find myself very grateful for his excellent company
Just watching his delight in life, puts me in a better mood

the trees that are my soldiers that surround me
and protect me. I am forever grateful for all
the abundance I have been given in friends alone.
I am forever grateful for the food I have and a
bed to sleep. I have no wants, I have no desires
and if practical and logical if I could just live
in nature alone I would.
I am not an animal, but a woman who does not care
for material things and never have. But relate
completely to this little fellow who is so
grateful not complaining and just pleased to be
loved by those who surround him.
Beautiful testament Mr. Ed to this lovely little
fellow and you can even see it in his eyes in this
picture - all his happiness and it's because of you.
People should learn from him :)
