Today is ‘National Feral Cat Day’
They attempt to survive on our streets
And, their homelessness is not their fault
They are victims of our society, quite mean
They are typically rounded up and killed
Most of them die in our shelters and pounds
Many of them are poisoned in America’s cities
In some areas of our nation, they are shot down
And so very sadly, they are the offspring of peoples’ pets
People who still refuse, to spay and to neuter, their own cats
People who allow their own un-spayed and un-neutered felines
To roam outdoors - increasing their numbers – these are the facts
An un-neutered male tomcat impregnates other cats in their neighborhood
And these are the same people, who are outraged, at all the cats all around
And when their un-spayed, allowed to roam free female, becomes pregnant
They will very often kill her unwanted offspring, or soon dump them at a pound
America’s unwanted, homeless felines, deserve much better than we give them
Please support the national groups, like Alley Cat Allies, who advocate for them
Please spay and neuter your own felines, and do not allow them to roam outdoors
Please support Trap, Neuter, and Return, so we can bring their suffering to an end

after all, living, breathing animals and deserve more respect. You are
right, their fate is no fault of their own.
