Horrendous animal abuse incidents continue
Many now treat our furry friends, like trash
Another call, about another abandoned dog
“We have to get this one out of his hell, fast.”
“His owners had foreclosed on their home months ago,
And they so very cruelly left this poor dog locked inside.
A neighbor told me that he’s very emaciated, and very sick,
And when I spotted him there, I soon broke down and cried.”
And very soon, this starving, dehydrated, prisoner in hell
Was freed from his bondage, and on his way to the vet
He sprawled across my lap in the back seat all the way
He is probably not the last case of starvation I’ll see yet
As I so sadly sat with him, trying to comfort this left behind dog
I could feel each and every protruding rib in his weakened frame
He can barely walk now, and he has a very severe eye infection
As I gently stroked his head, I was once again filled with shame
The staff at the animal hospital surmised that he is about four
They immediately put him on an IV, for his severe dehydration
He has been named 'Newbee’ since he’ll get a new chance at life
But I am filled with sorrow, that cruelty likes this, exists in my nation

Because our numerous government ‘leaders’ are not. Why not?
Because animals don’t vote or contribute to political campaigns.”

When I was very young, we went on a trip for a week or more. My parents put our dog out with plenty of food and water. We lived in the country so it wasn't a problem. In our haste to leave in the early morning, the dog somehow got back in the house before it was locked.
When we got home the dog had even eaten some of the curtains to survive. He did, and we were very grateful that our dog didn't die while we were away.
