He was born in our garage
To a very aloof, feral mother
His three siblings were all females
He very sadly had no feline brother
So, he quickly became his family’s outlaw
And, I very quickly named him: ‘Jesse James’
He, like my outlaw dog, always gets into trouble
And he truly delights in pursuing his outlaw games
He can’t help himself, he loves stealing my wife’s things
And, he loves to jump up on the table, to taste my Cheerios
But since my spouse has banned him from tables and cabinets
When he hears her approaching, he jumps down and off he goes
As she enters the room, I hear her once again, angrily shouting:
“My comb, my favorite pen, and all my paperclips, are gone again!”
And I can’t help but chuckle, as I soon spot Jesse James hiding them
I guess I have a soft spot for outlaws, I soon start howling once again
And our feline outlaw Jesse James, always gets away, from our canine posse
He really loves it, when they chase him all around, from one room to another
And every night, he outmaneuvers our dogs, who also want to perch on my lap
Since he too loves watching television, with his understanding old human brother
