Hey There, Lonely Girl
Yet another very sad telephone call
About a dog, abandoned in the wood
I have now been calling her ‘Lonely Girl’
Hoping to convince her, some are good
But she has been living out here, a long time
Most likely abused, and then dumped, out here
She sadly regards all of us human beings, as cruel
So she keeps her distance, filled with distrust and fear
But she watches me, as I now traipse along
She follows me sometimes, along the tracks
But she can no longer trust, anyone like me
And so very sadly, winter is approaching fast
And now, when I walk along my daily route
I leave her bits of food, and some dog treats
I know she now wonders, why I am doing this
But she keeps her distance, still very wary of me
I am patiently hoping for a breakthrough soon
Where she will be able to trust someone, again
We now find so many, whose hearts are broken
Today there is much misery, for man’s best friend
Yet another very sad telephone call,
About a dog abandoned in the wood;
I have now been calling her ‘Lonely Girl,’
Hoping to convince her, some are good.
I have encountered some good people,
Like the rescuers at The Humane Society;
