-For Me, A Truly Marvelous Way To End The Year-

Or the beauty of the moon,

My soul expands in worship

Of the Creator.”

I awoke in the middle of the night

I felt like something was calling me

Soon, I found myself out the door

Before long, I was out in the trees

The silence here, was deafening

The temperature, so frigidly cold

Eventually, I peered up into the sky

The full moon, now so bright and bold

Native Americans named this moon

‘Long Night Moon’ so very long ago

I wondered, as I stood peering up at it

If it had something it wanted me to know

Suddenly, the long night silence was broken

By a piercing howl, far across this frigid land

Now, I wondered if this being had beckoned me

Listening to it worshipping the moon, was grand

Suddenly, I heard another loud, distant howl

This one was obviously calling back to its mate

Perhaps the Long Night Moon had beckoned me

Knowing that I was concerned with nature’s fate

Then, I witnessed something both magical and marvelous

These two mated coyotes met, under the light of this moon

They danced and kissed, and vanished together into the trees

It was such a glorious sight, which I won’t forget anytime soon

I awoke in the middle of the night,

I felt like something was calling me;

Very soon, I found myself out the door,

And I was not alone, out in those trees.

Wonderful Experience!
I have a large pack of Coyotes out here
and their yips are really cool
especially when they are hunting rabbits

Hi Ed,

You bring to life on paper ehat most of us do not experience in a lifetime. The wilderness that God has provided. I long to sleep among the stars in a tent. One day I will sleep in a place where I don't have to pay a mortage or rent. The Indians had the RIGHT idea. The Great Spirit commanded respect for all the land and no one owned it. We have grown into a society of debters. You know that we owe! The only thing my wife and I don't own as of today is our home. Still it's nice to plant in our own backyard and watch miracles pop out from the good earth.

I could feel this still night with you, and heard the coyotes cry, sad their cries are not heard by others, sad their play will soon be no more, like the wolf and all the others, very sad indeed, the fiscal cliff will be a minor incident, falling off the cliffs of nature will be the big one soon, bless you Ed, a beautiful write.
