He was hobbling down the street
He had almost certainly traveled far
He was injured, terrified, and starving
And he had recently been struck by a car
Most people who saw him, ignored him
Most of the passersby, did not even care
Today, he is very sadly among the thousands
That are being abandoned and abused, everywhere
We got a telephone call, telling us about his plight
He was recently spotted, scavenging in garbage cans
By the time that we arrived there, he had hobbled away
Yet one more victim of the ever increasing cruelty of man
Luckily, he was again eventually spotted several miles away
Sprawled on a street, his immense pain had brought him down
He was scooped up, and taken to the animal control department
There, his now festering buckshot wounds were eventually found
And there, among the hundreds of other outcasts and left behinds
Is where he would have been euthanized within just a few short days
But luckily for ‘Charlie,’ someone took pity on this very sweet canine
He’s now at an animal hospital, having needed life-saving surgery today
The stories of animal abuse and cruelty in our nation, are very sadly mounting
And only one in several hundred abandoned dogs like Charlie, are being saved
If you want to help, please contact one of your local animal rescue organizations
All of them are in desperate need of monetary donations and foster families today

What are we doing to mans best friend? What are the real animals?
I can see killing for survival but NOT for the sport?
Who has the right to do that? How can they sleep at night?
What is the purpose? When will they see the light?
