“I love to think of nature,
As an unlimited broadcasting station,
Through which God speaks to us every hour,
If we will only tune in.”
George Washington Carver
I wake before dawn
And I hurriedly dress
I don’t want to be late
For The Grand Opening
I jump into my truck
And I head up the road
Hoping with all my heart
That I won’t miss a thing
And soon, I stand anxiously in line
In dawn’s shadowed mystical realm
In a far northern pine forest
On a peaceful rocky shoreline
I hear nothing but deep silence
And the gentle incessant lapping
Of frothing, frigid, blue waves
Upon the dark, rocky, lakeshore
I am Waiting
Yearning
Hoping
Praying
For the miracle
That has all my life
Filled my heart and soul
With true and utter Joy
My heart quickens
My ears peel
Time stops
My essence feels
Suddenly
It’s there
In the wind
Beckoning to me
It begins echoing
Pulsing
Vibrating
Through my entire being
It’s Magical
Mysterious
Breath-Taking
All-Encompassing
It’s Eerie
Unearthly
Heavenly
Ancient
It is the very first early morning call
Of a magnificent black and white loon
Far off on the distant uninhabited lakeshore
On the cusp of a wondrous new wilderness day
And before very long
The loon’s loving mate
Yodels back to him
That all is well
The Creation Store
Has Opened for Business
And I soon thank God
That I’m the first one in line
