Three weeks ago, he was so forlorn

All alone, and starving on the streets

Today, this old canine is all smiles

Today, his resurrection is complete

Along with his frown, Scruffy has shed his coat

It had to be shaved off, it was drenched in oil

And he is smiling, because of his new friend

A Pit Bull named Highway, who is very loyal

Together, they now romp and play, like young puppies

Old Scruffy’s utter sadness, has now been washed away

It makes me smile, knowing what a little compassion can do

And watching any once forlorn being smile, truly makes my day
