The day was dawning majestically

A lovely Spring morn had arrived

I urged my spouse to quickly dress

What a truly glorious day to be alive

We soon sauntered down a wooded path

While four of our canines were at our heel

Soon, there before us, was the sparkling lake

My heart rejoiced as I sighed a joyous squeal

The morning fog was suddenly lifting

So silently and so soothingly serene

The forest air was so fresh and sweet

The lake’s water, majestic and pristine

The Spring temperature was gloriously rising

The landscape no longer appeared so dour

The forest birds had all now begun chirping

Sparkling dew adorned budding wildflowers

The sights at the lakeshore were truly magnificent

The forest all around us was now bursting into view

Another new day in paradise was dawning before us

I felt so alive knowing there was so much to see and do

As we stood at the lakeshore, now taking it all in

And knowing there was not another soul in sight

I found myself disrobing and jumping into the water

It was an extremely invigorating total sensory delight

The shock of the icy cold lake water

Awakened both my body and my mind

What a fabulous exhilarating experience

Starting a day like this for me is always divine

And three of my canines couldn’t control themselves

They very eagerly dove right into the icy water as well

And very soon, our massive wolf dog, Turbo, joined us

Before I even asked her, my wife yelled ‘No Way in Hell!’

After splashing about so very joyously for a few minutes

Totally invigorated in this refreshingly chilly watery way

The dogs and I emerged from the lake and I got dressed

Before we all headed off on yet another glorious new day



My lovely spouse prefers those fancy heated swimming pools

At luxurious vacation resorts and extremely pricey vacation spas

Me?  I’ve always preferred a quick dip in a very chilly natural lake

Where I know I’m alive when I surface, and I so joyously yell, “AAH!”
