The warm days of Spring

Always find me in my garden

For me, a glorious place to be

Containing wonders without end

As I tend to my ripening tomatoes

My mind soon wanders back in time

To my grandmother’s glorious garden

A place that as a child, I found sublime

My grandmother was born with a green thumb

Her knowledge of gardening was truly immense

I loved doing gardening chores that she gave me

Each and every spring, I painted her garden fence

And as the days of spring became the days of summer

She and I would always delight in the fruits of our labor

Her garden overflowed with so many succulent vegetables

More than we needed, so she always shared with neighbors

I will always be in her debt, for giving me my love of nature

For teaching me, that simple things in life, bring the most joy

For instilling in me, my love of gardening, and of the outdoors

For providing me my marvelous memories in her garden as a boy

These warm days of Spring,

Always find me in my garden;
