Music: God Help The Outcasts


At the end of each and every year now
I reflect on street orphans that I’ve helped
The Year 2013, another horrific one for them
Far too many abandoned pets among us dwell

So many pets, who once gave their love to someone
Then tossed out, like a piece of trash on the street
So many animals, that deserved far better from us
These are some of the numerous orphans I did meet

Last January, I trapped Jackie, living on a frozen golf course
A sweet, starving, freezing, Shepherd, who deserved far more

Then there was old Scruffy, digging through the trash in an alley
Filthy, matted, and sick; who today, is now very happy and healthy

Soon, there was emaciated Rosie, a sweet Pit with pups, now without a home
She could not feed herself, or her newborns; without hope, always on the roam

Next came Bear, a beautiful Akita, who survived out on the streets, for two years
It took forever for him to trust someone again - today, he has no more hunger or fear

Next came Jemma, a gorgeous Blue Heeler, that someone had dumped out by the airport
She was starving and dodging the traffic – today, she is happy, and not terrified anymore

Then there was sweet Etta, the Rottie who lived on the railroad tracks, for over three years
The day that we finally caught her in a huge Monster Trap, brought all of her rescuers, to tears

Then, I soon learned about Little Renny, a tiny Chihuahua living outside a church in the bushes
He trusted no one and lived in fear of everyone - today, his sweet kisses of gratitude are the best

Next came Little Roxie, a pure-bred Beagle puppy, tossed out like the garbage, on a busy street
Today, she is bonded with her fellow street orphan Little Renny – two tiny soul-mates, so sweet

It wasn’t long after these two, that I heard about a frozen starving Poodle, out in a city park
Just before Christmas, I managed to corral Buddy, when he ran in fear, into a yard, in the dark

And pictured above is little Cookie, an abandoned dog, living on the grounds of the county jail
Her mate was killed, her pups taken from her; and we are still trying to get her to trust us today

And I just heard about a mail carrier out on her route, who saw a box of trash moving by the road
She soon found seven emaciated puppies inside it; one already dead, which has saddened her so

The cruelty we inflict on loving and trusting pets in our nation today is truly obscene,
And I so very sadly know that there will be many more of these street orphans in 2014
