Poem Artwork
-->“Be Part of The Solution,
Not Part of The Problem.”

Yesterday was designated ‘World Spay Day’
Established to highlight Pet Overpopulation
There are far too many unwanted pets today
All across the world, and in our very own nation

Puppy Mills continue to mass produce far too many pups
People continue to refuse to spay and neuter their own pets
Animal shelters continue to euthanize too many dogs and cats
As a pet lover and a pet rescuer, I sadly don’t see any solution yet

The thousands of dogs recently killed for the Sochi Olympic Games
Were unwanted, homeless strays that had not been neutered or spayed
Instead of working on a solution to reduce the number of unwanted pets
It is far easier to just callously shoot, and poison, and gas them these days

Ninety percent of the dogs and cats that I rescue from the mean city streets
Are sadly abandoned and abused pets which have not been spayed or neutered
Please be a part of the solution to end pet overpopulation and animal cruelty today
Please spay and neuter your own pets - adopt, don’t shop - and help spread the word

Your poem makes me cry. I know it's all true, and our voices must be heard. ADOPT, don't SHOP. Right on the money. Good work, Mr. Ed.

Somehow I find neutering and splaying a strange artifact of "civilization." If left to the natural environment, predators would solve the problem. Humans have tried it too, with mixed results. Time to get educated on what is right. And you are doing that.

good message in this well written poem ... here in The Bronx, the are roving buses that park for a day or two and open their doors to anyone's pet needing health assistance , shots or being spayed right in the bus ...

Well Said. If people would only listen.
