-->“Long is the way,
And hard,
That out of hell,
Leads up to light.”
John Milton, Paradise Lost
They told me that she’d been on her own
For the past three years, or perhaps more
Homeless, starving, and terrified of mankind
And most likely, booted out of someone’s door
They asked me if I would try to trap her
And rescue her, from her lonely life in hell
Even worse, they told me that her pups had died
At the abandoned house, where she now did dwell
I soon started traveling down to this dog’s man-made hell
The abandoned house where she slept, was about to cave in
I now often saw her forlornly standing, where her pups died
My heart broke for her, and for all of our animal cruelty sins
Of course, she did not trust me, or the trap where I placed the food
But eventually, her hunger won, and she was finally inside my truck
And now, she was on her way to the animal hospital for needed care
And eventually, she began to enjoy my gentle words, and gentle touch
Sadly, I learned that this left behind dog must be treated for Heartworm
But the kind-hearted woman who wanted to save her, will foster her now
She’s named her ‘Ella,’ and she will make sure she has a loving new home
Long is the way out of hell, and hard, but some castaways make it somehow

Blessings and Love - Micke
Ella is pure in heart as you are Mr. Ed. I am happy for
this forelorn shepherd. May her life be blessed with
hugs.

Lots of love to Ella. The fact that she didn't die there means she will feel the hand of kindness once more.

For those few who dwell
On the edges of darkness
The outskirts of hell
To render salvation
For those desperate indeed
Providing new lives
From their torment are freed
It is you kind sir
Whose selfless pure soul
Will get dibs on dog heaven
And a gold plated bowl
