There was a time that I liked the Fourth of July
But these days, I now hate it, as do many animals
They are terrified and traumatized, by our fireworks
And like them, I now find the non-stop noise abysmal

People are no longer satisfied with one Fireworks Show
They insist on shooting off fireworks, all day and all night
Most pets cannot understand what these terrifying booms are
And many pets run away in a panic, completely filled with fright

I rescued one of my dogs completely traumatized, on July Fifth
She had been running non-stop, since all of the fireworks began
She was now de-hydrated and exhausted, and so utterly terrified
She was just one of the thousands of innocent animal victims of man

I, like many other pet rescuers, now receive non-stop calls about lost pets
On each and every abysmal Fourth of July, Non-Stop, Fireworks Holiday
We spend our time attempting to round up run-aways before they get killed
The lucky ones are rescued in time, but far too many, do not survive the day

The day after the Fourth of July, is always the busiest day at our animal shelters
And people who own run-away pets that have no microchips or identification tags
Will often never find their cat or dog that ran away from home in a fireworks panic
As both a canine and a feline lover, I find this terrible reality, to be so extremely sad

Please Safeguard Your Own Traumatized Pets This Fourth of July,
Who Shake, and Tremble, and Attempt to Run, from the Terrors in the Sky
