He was one of the left behind survivors
Of Hurricane Katrina, nine long years ago
When I revived him, they named him ‘Eddie’
And so eventually, home with me he would go

He endeared himself to my spouse right away
But she decided that she did not like his name
So she decided that we should call him ‘Junior’
The name that he knows and responds to, today

And over the years since, his greatest joy is being with her
So to my spouse’s dismay, I now call him ‘Momma’s Boy’
He is always very content to be by her side, protecting her
And watching the two of them together, gives me great joy

The poor guy just underwent major surgery, to remove a huge tumor
He was overjoyed to see us, when we picked him up from the hospital
But he now insisted that my spouse had to walk him back to our vehicle
Although he is our biggest canine, he is still a Momma’s Boy, most of all
