We participated in the annual 'Mutt Strut’ yesterday
To raise some money, for ‘Chicago Canine Rescue’
A marvelous group, that pulls dogs from the city pound
Rescues them, finds them homes, takes away their blues

Rebecca and I marched with our latest rescue – Little Valentino
Who made some marvelous new canine friends along our Strut
Little Valentino was on his best behavior, as were the other dogs
This annual event raises thousands of dollars - but never enough

Our Strut was sponsored by many good friends, who donated money
To help Rebecca, Valentino, and I, raise money for this worthy cause
The three of us met so many fellow dog lovers and marvelous canines
From tiny tea-cup Chihuahuas to the Great Danes, with gigantic paws

We all marched along a 1.5 mile city route, past historic Wrigley Field
Then we attended a Mutt Strut Block Party, with great music and food
Little Valentino even won their annual ‘Doggy Cupcake Eating Contest’
A truly great day, a truly great cause, and all attending, in a great mood

PS: I rescued Little Valentino last Valentine’s Day – Hence His Name;
He Is Now Very Happy and Healthy, and No Longer Homeless Today.
