Founder of 'Save-A-Vet'


Throughout America’s history, our soldiers have relied on dogs
As messengers, bomb sniffers, IED detectors, and companions
Yet, our government leaders viewed them only as U.S. property
Which means that military dogs were left behind or put to death

Many of us have been petitioning our government for many years now
To allow our valiant soldiers, to bring back home, their valiant friends
Many of us feel that both human and canine soldiers deserve far better
And many of our valiant veterans have been working towards this end

I recently got to meet veteran Danny Scheurer
And two of his organization’s rescued canines
Danny so very valiantly served our nation in Iraq
He believes none of our soldiers should be left behind

He believes that working military dogs deserve better
And are not disposable pieces of government property
So when he returned home, he started Save-A-Vet.Org
Vowing to rescue as many retired military dogs as possible

His non-profit organization is also now saving law enforcement dogs
Dogs that have retired from homeland security and police departments
Save-A-Vet is building facilities, to house both veterans and retired canines
