As temperatures plummet below zero
In so many areas of our vast country
Far too many pets, are now freezing
And we need many more, willing to see

We have rescued several, out in the bitter cold
And some of them have escaped their iron chains
But whether chained or loose, they are now freezing
Far too many in America, don’t care about their pain

While we wish that people who chain up their dogs outside
Would somehow grow a conscience, they often need a reason
If you see a chained dog in your own neighborhood, take a stand
Talk to your neighbors, call the proper authorities; do this, for them
