It breaks my heart and makes me feel defeated
That Man’s Best Friend, is living like this today
In my very own country, and in my very own city
We human beings have so very sadly lost our way

This pathetic looking little dog was found on the streets
I wonder how many people ignored her plight, every day
I wonder who owned her, and didn’t give a shit about her
I wonder what’s happened to human hearts and souls today

We have very horrendously lost all respect for other life on our planet
Whether this life belongs to our once treasured pets or to wild animals
I grow more ashamed of being part of such a cruel and callous species
As an animal and nature lover, each and every day now, I am appalled

Dogs like this poor dog, are being found in every part of America these days;
If Gandhi was right, our once great nation, does not even exist anymore today.
