Music: Awakening


I now seem to crave far more breaks
From my computer and from my cell phone
Now, I yearn for far more walks in the woods
And on these nature treks, I am never alone

I often leave my home extremely early
I love saying Good Morning to the sun
And what marvelous neighbors I now meet
Before my early morning walks are done

I always greet the red breasted robin
Who always so joyously sings for me
We both stand in awe, at the meadow
Its wildflowers fill both of us with glee

Then I saunter down to an old pond
Where several ducks are swimming by
I begin tossing them some pumpkin seeds
When something skyward catches my eye

There, circling above the wondrous trees
Is my very old friend, the one-legged crow
I toss several peanuts way up into the wind
How he manages to catch them, I don’t know

Then, as I saunter down a very familiar forested path
A white-tailed deer and her two fawns, curiously peek
The fragrant smell of pine and sweet birdsong greet me
And eventually, I head off to a serene little babbling creek

Here, I always find my chirping friends, the chipmunks
Who always rejoice in the sight of a glorious dawn too
I toss them some peanuts from my trusty old knapsack
Then I head off again, greeting a sky, now heavenly blue
