“In order to really enjoy a dog,
One doesn't try to train him to be human;
The point of it is, to open oneself up,
To the possibility, of becoming, a dog.”
Edward Hoagland
Music: Rainy Days and Mondays
I needed a ‘nature walk’
But it was a stormy day
I didn’t know what to do
I had the blues yesterday
As I now sat around, in my gloom
I looked over at my very loyal mutts
Tater eventually brought me his leash
He is a dog, who has taught me so much
I had found him, nearly ten years ago now
A brave hurricane survivor, on our Gulf Coast
And since that day, he has always reminded me
It's the simple gifts that we should cherish the most
So old Tater and I now headed on out
And very soon, it began raining like hell
Tater looked up at me, and he grinned
He thought this rain shower, was swell
Then, he looked up again, and he opened his mouth
He began drinking rain, and it dribbled down his chin
Before long, I found myself doing the very same thing
When I looked down at good old Tater, man, did he grin
After quite a while, the rain storm ended
And the good old sun, began to peek out
As Tater and I now walked along, together
Several beings now began scurrying all about
A huge grey squirrel, began chattering up in a tree
A tiny mourning dove, began cooing, so very merrily
A pair of robins, began digging for worms, quite busily
And, because of my sage friend, I was once again happy
I had planned on a ‘nature walk’
But it was a dark and stormy day;
So good old Tater took me for a walk,
The animals teach me, in so many ways.

some of my very best days out were with our dog Quinn...he taught me so much...and about being in the present moment...
I learned unconditional love from our Netherlands Dwarf Rabbit Mickey...
And a sense of fun and mischief from our much loved black cat Jesamine...
