but part of me really can
relate to that state of mind,
and it also has to do with
people like me who are always
searching,
and, in our society,
searching could only mean
LOST
and many bums seem to be
a little bit lost,
and it's not that I'm
completely lost,
just lost enough to
tell myeslf I need to
search for something,
and I may have to become
slightly irresponsible
to do it,
and searching is really
important, I think,
because it keeps the mind
active,
and gives me a reason
to keep going,
and one of the greatest
bums who ever lived said
the following:
"every person, I suppose, has
their eccentricities
but in an effort to be
normal
in the world's
eye
they overcome them
and therefore
destroy their
special calling."
and his name was Charles Bukowski,
a great bum indeed,
so, bums, it would seem,
are not that bad,
and I think they deserve
more credit,
for having the audacity, bravery,
and just plain balls, for being,
in spite of society,
exactly who they want to be.

Had a friend who wished to be a Hobo, his wife left him, he got his wish. Just called to say after twenty years of being a Hobo that he was going to retire on disability, seems in the end he needed society after all.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
