Nothing New Under The Sun?

Poem Artwork
If all the words that I think, and everything I write and say,

Have in centuries past, already been said and done,

Ought I not to think of my words in another way?

Should I rise and challenge the proverb that has this to say?

“That there is nothing new under the sun?”

For I stand before a maze of words, who on ancient legs run.

Hence, now, I am so confused and not sure as to what I should do,

For if this is as it is, and the proverb be so true ,

why should I even write, or think at all,

if it all has been said, and thought.

For how many ways are they to say, “ That I love you”, will an un- invented word do?

Is there just one, that has not already been said, over the last thousand years or two.

What more could I, being the simple man that I am... possibly think or do,

That would somehow, in someone’s eyes, come across as fresh and new.

For even digesting this, leaves me thoroughly disheartened,

as I ponder a way in absent dismay with words not yet started.

For if I were to write down another streaming, and beaming line,

Would it too, had already been heard?

For it seems to me, that nothing is left that has not been said and done.

Moreover, I feel that I have lost my wheels

and, that there really is.... nothing new under the sun.

so there only so many, and hedged and limited cycles provided for man ? would seem so huh ? like the oceans floor that walks, says so much, yet bounded by the sea, we are ? so fastly important that you point this out, and that would make history therefore viable, yet, I have heard that there really is a few things new under the sun, and I think we know that true, like not dispair, but the depth of it, ty Al, Al

J.A. even though it's all been said before, somebody didn't heed to it the first time around(smile) ergo, say it again as many times as need be, someone is bound to listen.

Each poem may use words from the past, hell even the present, but it is what we mean, what we say, and how we say it that makes us different from our predecessors (SP?)...okay I have done enough thinking for one night, time for my favorite buzz; join me, Al?

Ahhhhh, but the way you arrange words dear Allen
is always new for they are from your inspired mind
which is God-given. Therefore we all say the same
thing differently;-) hahaha...Couldn't resist that.
Wonderful poetry and it is yours alone!
