The Bones Of Man One Thousand

Bones of man one thousand lie beneath the forest peat.

Plants and rocks rise above, but to all the stray visitor greet.

Streams rush swift in the craggy crevices far down below.

Deer and squirrel; birds of many colors come here to drink and then go.

Trees en masse mighty rise; winds whisper with the falling leaves.

Time carries none through the forest; giving only voice to its silent need.

So quick and soft are the moving days which gather upon each rising sun.

Forgotten are the memories of pride; cast down from once vain minds of a life already done.

The bones of man one thousand lie forever beneath the forest peat…

"The bones of man one thousand lie forever beneath the forest peat ..." but their spirts live on ... somewhere ... we hope in heaven.

I read your bio, Mr Wilson, and really liked these words: "If it is in our power to do good, then it is goodness we must truly do”. Perhaps those bones have done some good while they were alive! A brilliant write. Thank you.

God Bless
Lena

Beautiful picture and beautiful write...I have often wondered about those that lived many years before me as I walk and explore the mountains here in Kentucky...who they were, what their life was like...enjoyed this very much! Well written and thought provoking...

Allen, this one drew my mind back to Gettysburg, the killing fields of the Civil War where some 43,000 Americans died. Many were buried where they fell. In any case, it's a fine piece of writing and I enjoyed reading it.

Beautiful picture! Leave the bones to rest, they have been there so long already. Perhaps that is where God wants them to be. Good write.

Be safe,
Karen

This one is interesting. It seems the man has become fertalizer. Only the bones are left. Where did the spirit go?
God Bless,
Lew
