My Love For You

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

This lone and single leaf pictured here sought me out last night at work. While taking my test results of the day from my office on the shop floor to the shipping office on the other end of the plant I passed by an open door. Outside the wind was blowing the leaves all around the almost empty parking lot. This one leaf as if by magic changed his course and dislodged himself from the mass of his swirling brothers and sisters and found his lone way to come at rest by my feet. I stooped and picked up the leaf and thought “oh so pretty” and put it in my shirt pocket.

When I got back to my office to finish up my work for the night, I remembered the leaf, I thought of my wife, I remembered his journey and I pulled him from my pocket and placed him on my desk….that is when he spoke to me and said…”LOVE NEVER FADES”

I scanned it in this morning so that you too may enjoy the Pretty leaf.

My Love For You

Oh how these days have come with many the tempest.

Days sans of comfort which fill the voids of silent remiss.

Times where hope seems as fleeting as the November wind.

Journeys fragile and askew; come now to remorseful end.

Yea but come now the single leaf which danced alone my way.

Come now this pretty leaf to remind me that some things never fade.

For in the spring of our youth true love comes forth and is quietly born.

Sing now on high with summer’s gentle breeze as love eternal is adorned.

Yet comes the fall of this our life amidst raging winds of declining years.

Oh come now the fall with its promise of winters approach and silent fears.

With our lives near full circle, our dreams slipping on the bitter north wind.

We hold each other closer than ever before and proclaim our love till the end.

The end; the final end?

Nay I think not, for this is a life built on true love; a life that is lived; a life that is rejoiced; a life of love which has no end. For some things will never die….

See the pretty colors? See this beauty God hath made?

Know this Leah…MY LOVE FOR YOU WILL NEVER FADE.

This is such an inspiring story and I cherished every single word. It really touched me today. Leaves, just as life, has its seasons and so we live until the next season. A nice poem
