Though I Cannot See...

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Graced am I by God with another year come a few days.

I find myself utterly surrounded by an impenetrable haze.
The darkness has come once again to try and rob my soul.

Someone once said “what does not kill you only makes you stronger.”
If so…then why do I feel so weak?

STAGE III BLAME /HELPLESSNESS...

Poem Artwork

Though I Cannot See…

Can’t see; where oh heart did thy light go?

For white / black spells grip the trembling morning.

And the winds of change sing forgotten tunes.

So silent grows he; this persona; this faltering of me.

Chatter boxes consume negative space filling the bleeding air.

Exorcisms deliver; defiant darkness looses steels cold stare.

Trapped; boxed in like a rat in a maze, no place left in which to hide.

Solutions remain resistant; none left are they in which to confide.

Oh can’t see past the darkness; for there is no tunnel; no light.

Surety has forsaken me; absconding this heart for deaf gypsies in the night.

The silence now behooves me for no more should these lips press.

Though I can’t see…somehow, something shall come forth from this to my soul forever bless…somehow, though I can’t even see.

Extremely powerful write.
It is true. What does not kill you does make you stronger. Not in body but in Spirit and it is that lives for eternity.
God Bless,
Lew

Powerful, emotional, and even chilling...that is how you've expressed these feelings of being trapped and of helplessness. Excellent.

The stages of grief are intense and so is this poem. What a wonderful capturing of that. "Surety has forsaken me". A chilling phrase.

I do believe you can see quite well, at least from what I've read in this poem. Regardless, I know the feeling of being trapped and not wishing to see or hear or feel anything, anymore. ~ Sara
