The Prayer Of Jabez
Hollow and empty is this shell in which an unfathomable sadness doth dwell.
Voices echo in silent sounds; hearts fail to reason to which this soul is bound.
Numbing is the solitude which encompasses the senses which rule the mind.
Blurred images of people come and go; white noise is their voices in double time.
Alone again in a world grown so shallow and bleak; so unknowing; so sadly stark.
Music plays; the television emits muffled sounds; the lights are on, yet its still dark.
The full moon peeks weakly from behind a large grove of trees.
Silver beams cast upon the tear stained carpet; broken is the man on his knees.
Sing song words trip and fall across trembling lips.
Face turned upward; supplications applied to a sinking ship.
Seeking; searching; crying out in the dark to be softly led.
Dirges spring forth in the white night; songs sung of Jabez.
“Lord keep me safe from temptations that pull at my emotional and physical needs;
that call out to my sense of what I deserve, what I have the right to feel and enjoy.
Because you are the true source of all that is really life, direct my steps away
from all that is not you.”….From the prayer of Jabez
