The Butterfly Has Landed

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Greetings to all from what was once warm and balmy Florida…When I arrived on my birthday Friday the 27th of February the temps was in the low 80s…Saturday as I laid by the pool and turned a brighter shade of red the temp was in the mid 80s and I dreamed of butterflies…however today it is only in the 60s…this I should say is better than the six inches of snow that my Carolina home received Sunday…. Ahh…but back into the 70s by mid week….yall take care from sunny Florida….

The above photo is a picture of my butterfly and me as we celebrated my birthday in sunny Florida at the Longhorn Steak House…hope you all enjoy the poem….and a special thanks the Eddie M….for his call today….quite perceptive is he.

The Butterfly Has Landed

I flew across the miles of an uncharted sea.

I searched and I wept; I hoped and believed.

Thunder stormed across the echoes of this my stilled heart.

Butterflies like memories bloomed on the golden flowers from miles apart.

I danced in the silence of what seemed like a surreal dream.

I waltzed alone with an unseen partner and listened to angels sing.

My eyes were cast to the heavens looking for something lost, yet unheard.

I starred into the evening sun and waited patiently for a large silver bird.

Time slept on the cuffs sewn by my words sought and new visions received.

I survived; I rejoiced as a butterfly landed and but for a moment brought reprieve.

I walked now in anticipation taken so by her colors so bright and fair.

And I silently marveled as the setting sun glistened softly in her hair.

Yet even now as these words spill out onto the white pages of a pure heart.

I dread the parting, for in friendship, if but for a moment gave hope unto another start.

So dream your dreams on thoughts and deeds, which come forth both pure and clean.

Set your eyes not on the brown fields of the past, but on fields anew with butterflies; flowers and all things fresh and green.

Allen,

The butterfly has emerged from its cocoon and flies in beautiful, celebratory lines. Absolutely wonderful to see you smiling again, my friend. That doesn't erase the past; nor should it. But: you spread your wings and let God's wind support you. Good on you!! My new favorite of all of yours. Well done.

(((HUGS))) love and continued prayer, Karla. :D

Your butterfly is BEAUTIFUL. :D

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Did you read Karla's poem, "Butterfly," written for your birthday?? Just wondering... :D
