Poem Artwork

A distant but near voice called softly out into the warm dreamy night.
He awoke; he saw nothing but the black silence save that of the stars in a moonless sky
With eyes heavy in sleep, he drifted back once again to his most recent dream.
And it was there in this nocturnal world that he found her whispering to him in his sleep.

She stood alongside a large swaying palm with a smile that sweetly urged him on.
With pursed lips she blew; the wind arose and he felt her soft kiss brush the worn edges of his face.
He wanted at once to go to her; he longed to take her in his arms and of her love taste.
Yet he could not, for a large expanse of water separated them both.
Saddened was he, but resolute for he was a man of faith who never gave up on hope.

He prayed a simple prayer, he prayed the will of the Father that this dream in his heart would be.
He opened his eyes again and he saw her in the distance so sweetly smile.
Then he noticed a plank of wood, and he saw that she had one too.
Then there was another and another and soon with each plank they began to build a bridge
She on one side and he on the other until her bridge met his in the middle of the sea.

It was here that they embraced and then from his dream he once again awoke.

Soothing to both the heart and soul. Sometimes we can express in dreams what we cannot in life....

Be always safe,

Eloquent, enchanting, fulfilling - like a wonderful dream and restful slumber! The title is most appropriate like the prayer that brings hope "until her bridge met his in the middle of the sea."
