The Pathway Of Tomorrow

He walked delicately along the edge of the woods that represented his past and present today.

He thought of all of tomorrow’s dreams; he searched his heart for the words to say.

He looked behind himself and saw the shadows fall along the path of closed dreams.

He set his sights on the way ahead; he rejoiced in the dazzling light and to hope he did cling.

He reached a pine knoll which sloped in such a gentle way near the meadow so fair.

With eyes sworn to look ahead, he paused to rest on golden needles the color of her hair.

He now laughed at the silence which in times past tore against the frailty of his flesh.

For no more was the pain of the silence that once consumed his soul.

Now came new songs of joy which were sung of the heart now made whole.

He smiled a smile as big as the sky as the day came on whispers hush and took him.

He thought of her and her tender ways as the gentle winds caressed his face.

And he watched in admiration as a bluebird danced on meadows edge with his mate.

Serenity now fell in gentle waves as he realized the tenderness that a butterfly brings.

For of this a new life is wrought, torn asunder from yesterday’s path of closed dreams.

A new life is now rendered on the pathway where butterflies sail and blue birds softly sing.
