I Saw Her Today

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Some people believe in signs, some people only believe in the reality of the moment. To each is his own I say, but I believe in signs, miracles, and the wonderment of things unknown, and unseen. I believe that GOD gives us things in signs when HE knows we are searching our hearts. If others don’t see it that way…then that too is fine. For we are not here to please the world, nor are we just to please ourselves…we are to please GOD.

This week has been a tough week, and my only expression is through what I write. The picture attached is one that I took today, and the butterfly on the purple flowers I also took as a sign. For you see, this flower carries a certain significance to me. Leah and I planted this (unknown) flower almost 17 years ago. It only blooms in September…and it will start to bloom in the third week of August…the date of our marriage…oddly, but perhaps not, it will peak on or around September the 7th…Leah’s birthday. Since I always took Leah to Tybee for her birthday…we would watch the flower…when it began to start turning purple, we knew that it was almost Tybee time again. The flowers are purple again…and I was going to go down to Tybee this weekend as we always did…but I have to work…

But God sent me a sign…through the butterfly, and the clouds…believe what you may, for I cannot, and will not force anyone to believe what I believe…but I saw her today in many ways…and I know that all is well with my soul.

I Saw Her Today

I saw her today… yes her… in a cloud.
She passed overhead without a sound.
She was looking down at me, and I up at her.
I felt a little comfort; I felt a little hurt.

He arms were spread open and wide like she was beckoning to her side.
She shone a pretty white, illuminated majestically against the dark blue sky.

We spoke together briefly, both she and I, as I watched and watched as she slowly drifted by.

I could see her long beautiful hair flowing in giant strands as it trailed off to the East.

With only two days remaining until her birthday, I thought this a sign to bring me peace.

Some may say the mind only sees what the mind truly wants to see.

So grant them their thoughts, let them be who they must in life be.

But…I really did see her in a cloud today…and today, she was there for me.

Leah still looks out after you; and God reminded you of that in what you saw. Yes, God does bring comfort to those who hurt; know you are ever in my prayers/thoughts! Beautiful write and piccy, Allen! Well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, and continued prayer~

As always, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

My dear friend...I believe and see signs of my departed love ones too and yes they bring me comfort, peace and encouragement. Rest assured that Leah is by your side though you may not always "see" her, for I also believe that true love never dies. Carry one my friend.

Allen,
I truly believe. I believe in miracles, and God sent you one in the clouds, the butterfly and yours and Leahs beautiful flower. It brought her back at your side, if only for a moment. Beautiful write, Allen. One that touched my heart.

Blessings & Huggggs,
~Linda

I believe, Al. There is no doubt in my mind she was there for you as the cloud...as was she in the butterfly to claim the nectar of love of your and her flower. Itn't it wonderful how God provides us with these beautiful contacts!! Pity those who don't have these visions...
Blessings and Love - Micke

(((Allen))),

Who am I to discount what you saw? Or believe? When my Daddy died last May, Karen and I went outside after hearing the news. I looked up in the clouds, and there was a figure of a man holding a perfect heart in his hands. It brought comfort: it reminded me of the love Daddy had for me. =] A beautiful, tender, poignant write, very well penned and illustrated.

(((HUGS))) love and continued prayer, Karla.
