On Sinking Sand
Dark green leaves blister the blue haze of the sky.
The air is thick and heavy; the birds unable to fly.
Steam climbs like serpents from the molding ground below.
The shadows of the day recline knowing not which way to go.
Oppressive heat robs the lungs of its life giving air.
The walls of generations collapse as strangers silently stare.
It is but my time to wait, my time to but wait and see.
Yet, I feel helpless as the foundation crumples beneath my feet.
Come now the night, come now yet another pouring rain.
My fears consume me as the house settles more and more each day.
Is collapse imminent? Is my home soon to meet fully with the land?
I do not know as these past two years have been more than one can stand.

Nothing lasts forever. The storm will pass!
Barbara J. Henry
You are surely being tested and as far as I am concerned you are an amazing human being! There is that saying that we are not given anything we cannot handle.
God's blessings to you, Allen,
Amber
