Times of Travail Or Times Of Gain?

Thirty months on darkness mingled with short sweet taste of light has left me asking how long oh Lord this night.

Poem Artwork

 ·        Written poorly I know…written in the midst of pain, but I just  had to write…I had to ask why…I want to see the sun again.

Times of Travail Or Times Of Gain?

How long oh Lord must these trials endure?

A life once splendid, oh how quickly they go away.

Oh Lord…oh Lord, sometimes I feel alone and so unsure.

I watched most helpless in the fall of 08 when sweet Leah passed away.

Then in loneness, then in dark of night the cloud of oppression fought the day.

Shadows so black about me loomed ever so slowly stealing my soul.

Then by surprise one day I saw the sun rise…her name is Jan and she began making me once again whole.

Yet smiles and laughter only a few months did last as in April of 2010 I thought too that Jan as well did pass.

A hemorrhage to her brain left her lifeless and unable to breathe.

So how long oh Lord…how long again I asked of this travail I must see.

I do thank you Lord, I really do for her recovery did come and the smiles once again too.

Yet Lord this it seems was not to last as it was now my turn to come to task.

Come now the complications from my surgery in January of 2011 and the diagnosis of cancer did I greet.

Seven weeks of no work then only light of day on my return for three days I did see.

Oh Lord why was in my thoughts on day three when came upon me another emergency.

Now rushed to the hospital on March 11was I for emergency gall bladder surgery.

So here sit I now finally back in the safety of my dear sweet home and I ask…

LORD HOW LONG?

I think and I think in-between the pain and I wonder Lord of this travail and its gain.

Cancer treatments must I still endure, but when and where I’m now not sure.

I just want to see the sun again…I want to smile and laugh with Jan and the days of night and pain to come to a swift and healthy end.

How long oh Lord…how long I ask of you once again.

You are grappling with such painful issues, and bless you, it is wise to listen to your heavy heart now and let yourself express these burdens, let your tears wash you. Blessings,
Christine

God knows how tough you are, buddy...It took me almost a full year to come back from the gall bladder surgery...each person it is different, I think it kinda depends on how strong you physically & in faith...and you ARE the strongest in faith I have ever met...you survive & overcome...just continue to persevere as I know for sure you WILL...Ed

Dear Friend,

I lived through three years of radiation and chemo with my first wife. It was tough but she is in a better place. Now I see the light at the end of the tunnel. God is good. He will NOT put you through more than you can handle.

Blessings in Christ,

JMD

I know it has been a terribly hard road for you, Allen. Keep believing, Brother. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you. He understands your pain and your confusion and He hears your cries. Read those precious promises over and over, and rest in Him. If you are not able to read, rehearse them in your mind; I'm sure there are many stored there for just such a time as this. And remember Joseph, and his declaration that his brothers meant it for evil BUT GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD. Do not doubt that God will use this terrible time for good, in both your life and those around you. You can trust Him.
Love and prayers,
Connie
