For My Friend Ed Matlack On Being Cancer Free

I was at work when I took the call from my dear old friend Eddie M. today.

And it made me smile when I heard him say,

That he was cancer free in every way.

For this poem is for my friend,

A special thanks unto my God in which I do pray.

I am happy in knowing this day.

That no cancer has come his way.

Though I still face this same cancer,

I offer to God my thanksgiving and praise.

For I know cancer all too well…

I watched most helpless as it took my wife away.

And now I watch with trepidation as I walk into treatment with outcomes unknown.

I in humility do admit…

I do not always understand God’s reasoning or way.

Nevertheless with this most happy news…

I offer unto God my eternal praise.

Therefore blessings be unto you my friend Eddie M.

Blessing and long life for you in my opinion thanks to HIM.

I love you bro…and happy cancer free to thee.
