The Last Day

Again from my Iphone...
No matter how long away from home one might stay. The time eventually shall come when home we must return and face the challenges of the coming day.
I wish on this little south Georgia Island I could stay. For to go home means more doctors and more pain. Invasive and non-invasive treatments I HAVE to take. For I have first hand seen what cancer to a body can do.
Starting Monday a new journey I must begin. Eight weeks straight of radiation I must take. Still in this I must continue to work. If the pattern remains the same it will be 55+ hours each and every week... This I imagine is why I look with a bit of sad nostalgia on this my last day.

The Last Day
I sit motionless by the gentle low tide and listen to her as she speaks to me.
I hear the crashing silence... Calling, calling out from the open sea.
Stay, stay is the soft plainitive cry.
Listen to my gentle voice... Stay and soon you will know why.
I can't, I can't I boldly to the sea retort.
I must go for this has to be the last day, for back to reality I must report.
Please oh please says she as her salty tears lap gentle carresing my feet.
A seagull swoops nearby speaking it's familiar cry.
A dolphin not far from shore wonderously leaps.
It's the last day I keep repeating in my mind.
Again she speaks to me... She the magical sea.
Give me more time so I can keep talking to you.
Let me to your spirit speak she sweetly exclaims.
Hear now the voice of my love in the calling of your name.
I have since the beginning of time been with you and as well you with me.
I shut my ears, I close my eyes...I know the reality of tomorrow and I begin to cry.
I look up and away from the sea.
I ask God for direction and even on this last day give me everlasting peace.
Voices... Voices inumerable run rampant within my head.
I hear my heart and it tells me I must go and not stay lest in short time I shall be no more... No more...Just dead.
I open my ears and squint at the suns reflection on the sea.
I hear her call again; I taste her on my lips, I feel her warmth continue to tempt me.
She sleeps at my feet; she strokes ever so gentle my heart, my soul, my mind.
Yet this IS the last day, and in sadness I arise, and from her touch and with my back turned, I walk away.
As I walk slowly away from the shore.
I faintly hear her cry once more.
I know you must go; I know that you can't stay.
But this is just for now the calling of your last day.
You will she exclaimed will one day return to me.
For I am your love, and you are mine... The sweeping vastness of the open sea.
