The Pathway of Broken Years
Cold rain fell like tears from the October blue sky.
He walked alone down the pathway of broken years,
Leaving forever now behind muddy footprints within his mind.
The leaves of fall danced like fairies upon an unseen wind.
Dance did they, the falling leaves, dancing like past dreams again and again.
He whispered in secret to the blue sky; it ceased to rain, no longer did it cry.
He turned and looked back on the pathway of broken dreams.
His footprints had turned to stone to which clung the colors of life in the dying leaves.
Ahead lay the future on the pathway of uncertainty.
With his eyes focused on tomorrow he walks willingly-
Ever searching, ever watching the distant horizon for a mystical golden sea.
