Callie’s Death Sentence

Lord, Why???

All he asked for was a little one to love.
One that would rub, knead and curl upon his lap to sleep.
We already have two that are only for themselves.
You can scratch their backs whenever you can corner them…

They eat, they sleep and they poop…
That’s about all they are good for.
They were abandoned, starving and lonely.
And we took them in, fed them, and took them for their shots.
And above all we showed them love.

And still nothing.
Only time they come running is when you pick up the food box.
Then there is Callie.
She is yet another abandoned; starved and lonely baby.
But this one is different.

She hugs your neck when you pick her up.
She kneads all over you without using claws.
She gives sugar and looks into your eyes
With a look of thanks and love.

Every bone in her little body shows.
But she waits to be held and loved on before she partakes.
She has no voice, she does not cry. And we don’t know why.
Is she too weak, or did she cry her voice out when you left her on the street?

But now he holds her, his little love.
And he knows that she may not be there long.
We will love her and hold her
And she will know that what time she has left on earth
Will not be in vain.

She will never again be hungry,
She will never again be cold,
She will never again be scared,
And she will live her life knowing she is loved.

Daddy and Moma love you little Callie
As we also love Sparky and Smokey and Miss Minnie.

Feline leukemia virus is a disease that is caused by this virus. It is a form of cancer of the blood cells called lymphocytes (a leukemia).
According to our Vet, when a kitten has this, they do not live to be a year old. We estimate this kitten to be 3 or 4 months old...
