A Mothers Love

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

This is another poem in our 'People of Logan's' series. We have lost so many wonderful waitresses as they have gone to pursue other venues such as; continuing their education, moving out of town and trying to find greener grass in another pasture. But the ones who have left will always be remembered as the wonderful people that they were and now we are befriending new faces and most importantly new friends. And they all will remain friends with us on FaceBook so they will always be a part of our family.

A Mothers Love

She is there when her child cries; her children are always in her heart and mind.
She will sacrifice her very life; she will do whatever it takes to be patient, understanding and kind.

I met such a mother as this just the other day. Her name is Maxx and in her eyes a mother’s love one can surely see.
I spoke with her briefly and when she told me she was a college graduate I was touched deeply and forever moved.

She spoke of wanting to be a good mother; she spoke in an almost hushed tone.
Her smile was as soft as a gentle spring breeze, but her eyes…her eyes spoke volumes.
In them you could ever so easy see a mother’s love for her child and doing whatever it takes to provide and make it through yet another day.

Often in life we all fail to see what a good mother does to provide for our every need.
Then we grow old and all that we have are the precious memories in our mind of a good mother to behold.

So listen now children; listen to this lament which pours forth from my soul.
Make now your memories of a mother and her love for you.
For, someday you will look back through the veil of time and remember her solemn sacrifice when she is no longer there to hold.

Therefore Maxx this simple verse is dedicated to you.
Though we only chatted briefly I could feel in my heart and soul that your love as a mother was genuine and true .

I wish you only the very best as you strive with heart and soul to fulfill your quest.
For it is true ; to have a mother’s love is as sweet as the nectar of honeysuckles of a hot summers eve.
Her love is forever and this I see in you, therefore may God always bless you as you strive to meet your child’s every need.

My mother came from a day and time, without a college education, but a fine high school one at that, that the only jobs she could get were cleaning lady, factory laborer, or waitress.

It's sad to hear that a woman with a college education today who may be the head of her household still can only work as a waitress because of the times.

In any event, it's obvious from your praise, that she is a mother to the Maxx. My mother was and still is.
