Ode to Love

Dreams of mansions in the sky filled my sleep and left me wondering why.

Poem Artwork

I came crawling like unto a child,
Lost in the forest dark.
Tears consume me
And then suddenly I heard the songbird sing.

‘Oh Lord, don’t let me be misunderstood
You know my intentions are good.’

Shadows creep like silent snakes,
Slithering, crawling upon my face.
I sought the light,
Yet only darkness prevailed.

I prayed, dear Lord, don’t let me be misunderstood,
All I seek is for by you all is right.
So pray tell Lord why am I misunderstood when all my intentions are in truth good?

Cold shivers crawl down my spine.
I only seek love, not from another, but from you Lord divine.

For you alone Lord are my salvation,
My redemption and my reclamation of my soul.
For even though my intentions were good,
It is said, ‘The road to hell is paved’ by this very same thing, good intentions.

Yet now I find myself in a quandary unspeakable.
I dream of mansions and golden gates.
I see the bright light, I see my shadow as it awaits.
Fear grips my very soul as I ponder and try to reason this dream/vision in whole.
So Lord when my time comes,
I pray that you don’t let me be misunderstood,
For all my life, my intentions were good…
Amen

That IS heaven you've dreamed about. My dad is there too. I once dreamed of him being in a place with golden steps, and he was pretty much alive and asked us, who wants a piece of pie, and we answered we do, and he lead up the gold steps into a place where there was the largest pie I have ever seen.

It was a dream, but there, I know daddy is in a wonderful place.
